Ahhhh – the Magic Kingdom – the crown jewel of the Disney parks. It is beautiful. Nostalgic. And fun! This was the first park we visited (on a Sunday – highly recommended opposed to a Monday) and it was all about Petunia. She didn’t know we were going there until we drove through the gate. She was totally overwhelmed and didn’t know what to say. But I knew she was happy.
Hint: FastPass. This is a beautiful invention that is not an extra charge at Disney (unlike Universal). You insert your ticket and you get a return time. Thanks to inside information (thanks primo!!!), we figured out how to get unlimited fastpasses anytime we needed them. Normally you get one at a time. The FastPasses are great for the big rides like Space Mountain where you walk past maybe 100-200 people waiting in a long line. They are not needed as much for the 3-D type shows where the auditorium is huge. Out of all the shows/rides, I def recommend Mickey’s PhilharMagic which is a brilliantly done 3-D movie. All of us loved it and it had my daughter laughing really hard (which it is all about). Others not to be missed: Space Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and the Jungle Cruise. You can pass on Snow White’s Scarey Adventure (It really scared my daughter), the Magic Carpets of Alladin (same thing as Dumbo but Dumbo is cuter), and Transit Authority.
The food was great. I liked everything I tried. Yes, you’ll pay a lot. We did take water and snacks which cut down on what we bought but it was so hot that we bought a lot of water. But for $2, you get a HUGE bottle of water. It was actually quite worth it. A must buy: Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Ears. Great chocolate covered ice cream.
We stayed for the night parade which was so-so. I thought it moved kinda slow. I guess its so everyone can catch a glimpse of it. The fireworks were another matter. Wow. Excellent. I love fireworks and these were amazing…. I missed some of them as I stood in a long line for water.
Lastly – be prepared to stand in lines for food and water and snacks. I’m sure during the busy season they have more people working, but, during our week, the lines were obnoxious. One person trying to do everything – take money, fill the order, etc. When I waited 20-25 mins for one bottle of water, there were only 4 or 5 people ahead of me. http://www.counttrackula.com/tracker/link/48/888
